Decentralized servo drives are drive systems in which the power electronics are integrated directly onto the motor—rather than in a separate control cabinet. As a result, only a single bus or power cable runs to the motor. They are particularly advantageous when there are many axes per machine (5–8 axes or more), long cable runs, modular machine designs, or space constraints. For 30 to 80 axes, the control cabinet volume can be reduced by up to 90%. esitron has been manufacturing decentralized servo drives from the esiMot series for over 35 years in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

esiMot compact drives integrate the power electronics directly into the motor housing, thereby reducing wiring requirements and control cabinet size—ideal for decentralized drive concepts. In contrast, the classic esitron servo motors operate with an external servo controller and are suitable when the control electronics are to be housed centrally in the control cabinet or when higher power ratings are required.

esitron products support PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP, EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus RTU/TCP, and the analog ±10V input. In addition, the Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function is available in accordance with EN 13849. This allows esitron drives to be integrated into all common PLC environments—from Siemens to Beckhoff to B&R—without requiring any changes to the higher-level control architecture.

esitron offers two core display technologies in its portfolio that complement each other depending on the application: Classic 7-segment displays such as the DM6 display module (6-digit, 14 mm) or the DM57 large display (5-digit, 57 mm) display digits, special characters, and, in some cases, letters, and are particularly well-suited for displaying purely numerical values such as meter readings, positions, or measured values—the DM57 can even be read from a distance of up to 25 m. The DM100 is also used as a process display; it is a 100-mm LED display with 4, 6, or 8 digits, designed for DC current and DC voltage signals with visual limit monitoring and an alarm function, and is specifically used for process data such as pressure, flow, temperature, or speed in large-scale production facilities. For more complex displays, esitron also offers the DMD128, a freely programmable dot-matrix display that can display not only numerical values but also text, symbols, and graphics in eight colors per pixel—with a readability distance of up to 50 m. All displays can be integrated into existing industrial systems using common fieldbus interfaces such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, CANopen, or Modbus.
