New EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 – What Machinery Manufacturers Need to Know Now

The new EU Machinery Regulation will take effect in January 2027. It replaces the previous Machinery Directive and introduces, among other things, more specific requirements for cybersecurity and industrial security.

For machine builders, this means:
Safety and protective measures must be taken into account even more closely during the design phase in the future. At the same time, the importance of safe operation, proper maintenance, and transparent documentation of the components used is increasing.
The new regulation also provides clearer guidelines for handling significant changes to machines and systems subject to testing.
At esitron, machine safety has always been a central component of our development. This is also clearly stated in our Statement of Compliance.

Our devices are:
✔ constructed in accordance with DIN VDE 100
✔ electrically tested in accordance with DGUV testing specifications
✔ developed and documented in accordance with applicable EU directives – including the Machinery and Low-Voltage Directives –

The new Machinery Regulation underscores how important safe, reliable, and compliant components are for modern automation solutions.
We closely monitor developments surrounding the Machinery Regulation and support machine builders in designing their drive technology to be future-proof and compliant with standards.
